SERMON NOTES:

Tomorrow is a special day in the life of the church as it begins the celebration of our Holy Week. As I have been studying this week about how the masses laid down their clothes and palm branches to welcome the Messiah into the holy city of Jerusalem, one thing keeps pressing heavily on my heart: where did they all go when Jesus needed them most? Those praises of Hosanna rang through the city, but just days later the words ‘crucify Him’ came from the same mouths. It would be wise for all of us to evaluate whether our hearts bow to Jesus as Lord, or whether we just want a Savior with no Lordship.

I challenge all of us as we approach this week to consider fasting and dedicating more time to prayer and reading God’s Word. We need to approach Good Friday and Easter with hearts that are overwhelmed by the price our Lord paid on the cross, and the implications that has for all of us.  As we wake up next Sunday, may we remember we serve a living Lord who conquered death and the curse of sin.

In Christ,
Pastor Khalil Ayoub
