SERMON NOTES:

This Sunday we will continue our study in James 5. We continue to see how much of an impact prayer has on the life of the believer. We see in James 5:16 that confessing our sins to one another is a good and healthy thing. Not because doing so grants us more mercy or forgiveness from God, but because the believers are called to care and pray for one another. When one part of the body is hurting and struggling, the entire body notices it and feels it. When believers around us are struggling in sin, we must take notice and care for one another, praying fervently for each other. Our prayers for the believers often strengthen us spiritually more than we know – not just for those that we pray for, but also for us when we are praying. As we have seen over the past couple of weeks in James 5, prayer is not simply a “good thing.” Prayer is transformative, humbling, and life-changing; God uses it to draw us closer to Him and make us more like Christ.

In Christ,
