Easter: The Day God Emptied the Grave

"Easter isn’t about filling eggs with candy, it’s about how God emptied a grave. The first Easter wasn’t experienced in a giant crowd, but among a small handful of witnesses. The greatest event in all of history—the most powerful moment on which our entire salvation hinges—happened in the quiet early hours of an otherwise ordinary day, with a small group of people whose deep grieving turned to overwhelming joy when they saw the empty tomb and their resurrected Savior.

Easter is about Jesus. Easter is about God doing the impossible. Easter is about God taking the very worst thing (Jesus’ death) and turning it into the very best thing of all time (Jesus’ resurrection and the fulfillment of our salvation). Easter is about God coming close and loving us right where we are and doing whatever it takes to make a way for us to be with Him. As Christ followers, not even death can separate us from Him—because He defeated death and the grave.

Please take some time to be quiet before the Lord and be reminded of what Easter is all about. Your kids need to see your excitement and reverence regarding Easter and spend time with you reviewing the beautiful story of Jesus' ultimate sacrifice. The children are preparing for Palm Sunday (April 13) by learning 2 songs and are practicing them during children's church. They will be leading the congregation in worship during the 9am and the 10:30am services. Please practice these songs with your children as much as possible. I think you will enjoy them as well! Please plan on being at church by 8:50am to get the children in place and, if possible, stay for the first 10 minutes of the second service to allow your children to sing again. If you can only be there for one service, that  will also work!
